A Good Clan Member
Joining a gaming clan is not just joining a group. It's like becoming a part of a family. Gaming clans consist of like-minded gamers, and when similar gamers get together, they can form a very strong bond. They can become stronger than a family. Clans provide a means of social interaction with others and the gaming world, and it is also a great way for new gamers to improve their skills without getting verbally bashed for being relatively much weaker. But if you want to join a clan, then you must have the following qualities, otherwise nobody would like to take you in their boat.
First and foremost, if you are going to join a clan for a particular game, then you must love the game. With determination to be the best alone, you will not go far. You must enjoy every second of playing the game and let others have a good time too. Don't be a burden for your clan mates. Gaming can be tough if you want to become a professional, so without the love for the game, it will be insanely difficult for you to achieve a higher level or have fun at all.
Next, you must be willing to improve and to do that you must have respect for the more experienced and senior players in your team. No one likes a smart you-know-what. Be respectful and listen to the orders of your team leader or someone in a higher rank. In almost all cases, they give good advice because they know the game more. If you do think that you know something that they don't or if you have come up with a new strategy, then by all means share it with them, but ask first if they are willing to try out something new. Don't worry. Ive not known any clan leader who would refuse to hear the voice of their team members.
If you truly want to improve, you must have the drive to practice by yourself for the overall benefit of the team. You will not want to be blamed because you let your flag be stolen from the base because of a silly mistake or you let the opposition successfully bomb the target site without giving a fight at all. So learn the basics strongly. Google for the most common strategies when you get free time and impress your clan members with your dedication. Don't just practice with your clan members and leave the game on the shelf until your next meeting. Try to go through what you learned new from the last meeting.
Be reliable, and always keep in touch. Check your email regularly and make sure you dont miss any important announcements. Sometimes there will be emergency clan practices, and sometimes practices will be called off. So be informed. If by some unfortunate reason you cant make it to practice or meeting, email them beforehand. In every case Ive known, the clan leader will be considerate, because they know that people have life and when something important crawls up no one can tell.
If you have some particular skill in a game, utilize it. In almost every game, there are different classes of players. For instance, in FPS games, there are the sharpshooters who have excellent vision and can handle the Sniper Rifle with precision, the base defenders who can withhold relentless enemy attacks with powerful rocket launchers or machine guns, or the swift attackers who are excellent at assaulting the enemy base and wrecking havoc or deftly retreating with enemy flags. Whatever you are good at, share with your clan members, and focus on improving that skill specifically. It is definitely exciting to be an all-rounder, but its better to be a Master of one trade than being a Jack of All.
If you play on public servers and fly your clan tag with your name, never ever do anything that would degrade your clan's name. Always be respectful to other gamers and never swear. Other gamers will get the impression that your clan is unfriendly if they see one member being rude and ruining the experience for all. It doesnt matter if you don't win all the time or get the highest Kill to Death ratio as long as others see you and your clan as a symbol of good sportsmanship.
Of course, if you want to get the full experience of being a member of a clan, you will need a good internet connection and a headset with microphone. Most clans would require this as mandatory. It's nearly impossible to communicate by writing in the heat of a battle. Using a headset and mic along with a software like Teamspeak will do wonders for communication. You don't want to miss the information that you have to go to site B to get the terrorists just because you have a faulty speaker or headphone. You don't want to feel guilty because the enemy left through the left door with your flag and you couldnt say it aloud to your teammates because you don't have a mic. These things are very important, so make sure you are equipped with them. Being a part of a clan means a lot to many gamers. You can improve your own skills by cooperating with others or rise in rank to be a leader by demonstrating your superiority. If you are in a clan, you can be sure of a wonderful gaming experience. But make sure you follow the above advices or you might see yourself getting kicked from one server to the other. Clans represent a symbol of unity. They stand for power through friendship. So make your clan proud.
